How to Download an Entire Album to Your Computer

Trovebox is an online photo and video management service for businesses that is used by small businesses, non-profits and enterprises. We offer secure photo sharing, group photo collaboration features, multi-user accounts and whitelabeling. Learn more about Trovebox and see our pricing plans.

Working with multiple users on your Trovebox site means uploading photos from a lot of different sources. You and your colleagues may upload photos from their phones or their computers at any time. You may find yourself downloading photos they took, and they may download photos you took. Downloading an individual photo is easy; visit the individual photo page and click the Download button next to the button.

But what if you need to download many photos at once?

Maybe you uploaded a lot of photos from your phone. Or maybe someone else uploaded most of the contents to that album, and now you need them. In either case, no one has the full contents of the album in one place.

Now you can do that at Trovebox.

When you visit an individual album page, you’ll see a Download button at the top of the page. Click the Download link, and you’ll get a zip file containing all the photos in your album. You can save the zip file on your computer and then do anything you like with the photos: use them in newsletters, brochures, or even your company website.

Let’s take a look at a real world example.

Anna is the communications coordinator at a nonprofit. She manages the nonprofit’s Trovebox site with several coworkers, including Ivan the events coordinator. Since Ivan gathers most of his photos from the nonprofit’s events, he uploads a lot of them instantly from his phone.

Most of the photos Ivan uploads are on his phone and on the nonprofit’s Trovebox site. Anna can download the individual photos from Trovebox for newsletters, webpages, and brochures.

One day Anna needs all the photos from an event Ivan ran recently. She could download each photo individually from the photo’s page on Trovebox. Or since all the photos are in the same Trovebox album, Anna can visit the album’s page and click the Download button. Now all the photos Anna needs are on her computer for editing and using anytime.

And she can spend that time saved on helping her nonprofit make a bigger difference.

You Can Now Upload Your Original RAW Files to Trovebox

Trovebox is an online photo and video management service for businesses that is used by small businesses, non-profits and enterprises. We offer secure photo sharing, group photo collaboration features, multi-user accounts and whitelabeling. Learn more about Trovebox and see our pricing plans.

We’ve received many requests to support more file formats here at Trovebox so you can store even more of your photos in one place. Starting today you can start uploading and storing all your original RAW files in your Trovebox site.

What on earth is RAW?

RAW format is a digital camera image format that is minimally processed. It’s a lot like a photo negative from a film camera.

Still confused? That’s okay. If you don’t have any RAW files to upload, then nothing changes. You can still upload your photos, view them, and download the original files when you need them.

What happens with RAW files on Trovebox?

If your camera supports RAW files you can start uploading them to your Trovebox site now. Visit your Upload page and select the RAW files you’d like to upload.

While the RAW image uploads, we do the work and process the image as a jpeg file for viewing on your site. When you view a photo that you uploaded as a RAW file, you’re viewing the processed jpeg file.

We store the original raw file so you can download it anytime. Click the Download button next to any photo to download the RAW file to your computer.

We hope RAW support adds to your Trovebox experience and lets you store even more of your media in one place. Meanwhile, we’re always happy to chat. Leave a comment, send an email, or mention us on Twitter.

Trovebox Collect for iPhone

Let’s take a look at how this works on your coworker’s iPhone.

Once you’ve obtained a Collect link, you can send it to a colleague through email or text message. From there they can tap the link and select the photos they’d like to upload. Once they select their photos and tap Send, we’ll upload the photos to the designated album and email you with a link to view them.

No iPhone? No problem.

We can hear this question from here. “What if my colleagues don’t have an iPhone?”

That’s why we designed Trovebox Collect to be easy to use no matter what device you’re on. No iPhone presents no problem. Your colleagues can also use the Collect app for Android or upload their photos on the web. Send them the link and they can upload their photos from anywhere by clicking the link. If they choose to upload photos in their mobile browsers, we’ll display a small banner mentioning the app.

But if you find that a few folks are sharing with you often, the Collect app makes sharing quick and easy. All they have to do is tap a Collect link and start sharing. This leaves you with the peace of mind that you’ll receive your photos quickly and organized in one place.

Upload Photos on the Go

Sometimes when you take a photo it’s important to make sure that photo appears on the web immediately. If you’re away from your computer the Trovebox app for Android and iPhone let you do exactly this.

Once you’ve installed the app, tap the camera at the upper right and select whether you’d like to select a photo from your gallery or take a photo to upload. Then you can add a title, tags, and albums to the photo, and send the photos to your site.

A note on privacy: All photos you upload through the mobile app are private by default. You can change this when uploading if you’d like anyone to be able to view these uploaded photos.

Upload Multiple Photos To Your Company’s Trovebox Site With Sync

Tired of uploading every single photo to your company site? We would be too. That’s why the Trovebox apps offer Sync: a way to upload multiple photos at once to your organization’s Trovebox site. Select the photos you’d like to upload, add any common attributes like tags or albums, and upload away.

You can also automatically upload your photos to your company’s Trovebox site. Check your settings for Auto Upload (or Auto Sync on iPhone). Select this setting, and all the photos you take on that device will be automatically uploaded to your Trovebox site.

Tip: If you have a limited data plan, you can limit your uploads to wifi only in your settings. That way your uploads won’t use any of your precious mobile data.

View Photos on the Go

Sometimes you need to find that one photo to show someone sitting next to you, but you’re at a lunch meeting away from your computer. It could wait until you return to the office, but why wait when you can pull out your phone and show your client right then? Luckily you have your mobile phone with the Trovebox app installed on it.

Now your photos can go anywhere you go. Any questions? We’re happy to chat. Leave a comment, send an email, or mention us on Twitter.

Try Collect Now

If you’re like us then you’ve felt the pain of trying to Collect photos from others after an event. It might be a company Christmas party or a fund raising event. In any case you’ve probably found yourself emailing around asking others to send you the photos they took.

Sometimes they send you the photos by attaching them to an email. Other times you’re not so lucky and get the photos sent to you on a DVD. Even sending around a shared Dropbox folder requires others to have a Dropbox account, the client software installed and enough space to upload all of their photos.

It’s a hassle, we get it. That’s why we made Trovebox Collect. It’s a simple feature of Trovebox that makes it easy to collect photos from others without requiring them to attach them in an email, sign up for an account, install any software or burn a DVD.

Just how easy is it? It’s as simple as emailing or text messaging a link to the people you want to send you photos. Let’s see how it works using an example.

Acme Widgets is a non-profit foundation that holds fundraisers several times a year. Maggie, the Communications Coordinator, is responsible for marketing and publication. Naturally she wants to get a copy of the photos that their volunteer photographers and co-workers took.

After the Christmas fundraising event Maggie creates an album named ‘Acme Widgets Christmas Fundraiser’ and clicks the link to collect photos from others. She copies that link and emails it to her volunteer photographers. She also sends it as a text message to her colleagues.

Scott, one of the photographers, clicks the link from his laptop. This opens up a webpage with a form where he can select all of the photos he took at the event. He selects the photos, clicks upload and lets his laptop send all the photos to Acme Widgets’ Trovebox account. He didn’t have to install any software or sign up for an account. Once he’s finished uploading photos Maggie will get an email notifying her that Scott’s photos have been sent to her.

Andy, one of Maggie’s colleagues, gets the link as a text message on his phone. All the photos he took were from his phone so clicking the link brings him to a website where he can upload photos directly from his phone or install the Trovebox Collect app to make it even easier. Once his photos have been uploaded Maggie gets another email letting her know that Andy’s photos have been sent.

Back at the office Maggie goes to Trovebox and opens the ‘Acme Widgets Christmas Fundraiser’ album and sees all of the photos from the event. She can even filter the photos to see just Scott’s photos and has the ability to download any of the original high resolution photos.

Maggie is happy to have received all the photos in one place. She’s even happier that the photos aren’t scattered across emails,  Dropbox links and DVDs.

Scott and Andy are happy because sending Maggie the photos wasn’t a hassle. They didn’t have to attach photos to an email, sign up for an account, install software or give them to her on a DVD.

Maggie spends the rest of her day with a giant smile on her face because she can spend her time doing more important things; like going home early.
